New Pic of Michael Fassbender in Centurion

Empire magazine has this new image of Michael Fassbender in Centurion, due out in spring of 2010. Michael Fassbender plays Quintus, part of Rome's reputedly 'lost' Ninth Legion, who in Centurion are deep in hostile Pict country.

Said Fassbender, "There's certainly a lot of head-chopping. I guess you can always make modern-day parallels, to the occupation of Iraq. But it's the idea of someone who believes in an ethos, becomes disillusioned and comes to his own sort of beliefs. So there are parallels, and it's interesting when you take it out of our timeframe and stick it back 2,000 years."

Fans get Cherrybomb a release in Britain

Facebook works, gang. Fans of Harry Potter's Rupert Grint started a petition to get the small indie film Cherrybomb, in which Rupert stars, a distribution deal. The film had appeared at the Berlin film festival, but until fans started this petition drive for its release, had not been picked up. The film has no definite release date in the UK, but it will likely be out in the first part of 2010.

Grint, 21, previously said was delighted by the fan campaign, which was dreamt up by a website called Ice Cream Man.

"I am backing this campaign wholeheartedly," he said.

"I'm delighted by the huge support the film has already received on the official Facebook page and other sites on the web and am so grateful to my fans in particular, who have travelled the world to support the film at festivals and preview screenings."
Cherrybomb follows teenagers Luke (Robert Sheehan), Malachy (Grint) and Michelle (Kimberley Nixon) as they embark on a wild weekend of drink, drugs, shop-lifting and stealing cars. But what starts out as a game turns deadly serious when the three discover that they can't get off the wild ride they've set in motion.

First Clip from Splice

Guillermo Del Toro has produced this interesting looking Sci-fi film called Splice:

Elsa and Clive, two young rebellious scientists, defy legal and ethical boundaries and forge ahead with a dangerous experiment: splicing together human and animal DNA to create a new organism. Named Dren, the creature rapidly develops from a deformed female infant into a beautiful but dangerous winged human-chimera, who forges a bond with both of her creators - only to have that bond turn deadly.

Happy Birthday Guy Pearce and Kate Winslet!

Guy Pearce was terrific in a supporting role in The Hurt Locker, and he also has a part in the upcoming The Road.

It's also Kate Winslett's 34th birthday. Here's my favorite clip. "Do a Holocaust film. Guaranteed Oscar!" LOL! Seems it was true.
