Rupert Grint to be Eddie the Eagle
Harry Potter star reportedly set to replace Steve Coogan in a comedy biopic of the British ski-jumping phenomenon
Harry Potter star Rupert Grint looks poised to play Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards in a comedy biopic of the British skiing legend. According to the Sunday Mirror, Grint will replace original choice Steve Coogan in the production, which is due to begin filming next month.
A little background: Back at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Edwards, a bespectacled English plasterer with relatively no athletic training finished dead last in the ski-jump. But his jumps were nevertheless riveting since his every attempt was a potential “agony of defeat” video clip. Ski-jumping officials did their darnedest to keep him out of the competition — for his own safety. Somehow, “the Inspector Clouseau of ski jumping“ survived to bask in more than 15 minutes of fame, appearing on Johnny Carson and recording an atrocious single, “Fly, Eddie, Fly.”

Fans get Cherrybomb a release in Britain
Facebook works, gang. Fans of Harry Potter's Rupert Grint started a petition to get the small indie film Cherrybomb, in which Rupert stars, a distribution deal. The film had appeared at the Berlin film festival, but until fans started this petition drive for its release, had not been picked up. The film has no definite release date in the UK, but it will likely be out in the first part of 2010.
Grint, 21, previously said was delighted by the fan campaign, which was dreamt up by a website called Ice Cream Man.
"I am backing this campaign wholeheartedly," he said.
"I'm delighted by the huge support the film has already received on the official Facebook page and other sites on the web and am so grateful to my fans in particular, who have travelled the world to support the film at festivals and preview screenings."
Cherrybomb follows teenagers Luke (Robert Sheehan), Malachy (Grint) and Michelle (Kimberley Nixon) as they embark on a wild weekend of drink, drugs, shop-lifting and stealing cars. But what starts out as a game turns deadly serious when the three discover that they can't get off the wild ride they've set in motion.

You Got Your Cherry Bomb
Harry Potter star Rupert Grint stretches his acting range in the new UK film, Cherry Bomb.
The Sun reports the 19-year-old British actor is currently in Belfast still filming the rest of the film for BBC. Cherry Bomb follows teenagers Malachy (Grint), Luke (Robert Sheehan) and Michelle (Kimberley Nixon) as they embark on a wild weekend of drink, drugs, shop-lifting and stealing cars. But what starts out as a game turns deadly serious when the three discover that they can’t get off the wild ride they’ve set in motion.
The 19-year-old actor — Ron Weasley in the blockbuster films — gets a battering over a beautiful girl in his new movie Cherry Bomb.
The teen thriller, out next year, is a far cry from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince which hits screens in November.
Rupert, filming in Belfast with co-stars including JAMES NESBITT, said: “As soon as I saw the script I wanted to do it. It’s so different from Potter.”
Sounds a bit like Daniel Radcliffe getting acting cred for going buck naked on stage in Equus.

Rupert Grint -- brutally honest
British actor Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter movies) won't be moving to LA anytime soon because he 'can’t be bothered with airhead actresses'. According to Rupe, he met Lindsay Lohan last summer and wasn't impressed as, "she talked about herself a lot." Grint went on to recall that, "She (La Lohan) said she was going to win an Oscar before she turns 25. I just kept thinking,‘But you can’t act’.” Yes, well, she did win two Razzies last year for her 'stellar' performances. From Perez:
