This was from Comic Con in San Diego last summer. Kevin makes similar points that Harry Knowles did about Twilight last year. Mock these screaming Twilight fans at your peril, because this is the genre entryway for these girls.

Completely Gratuitous - Chris Pine in GQ

Ahhhh, Chris Pine. One of my favorite things about the new Star Trek film! See more pics from the GQ photo shoot, and a short interview here.
I'm not the only one with a crush on Chris. Kevin Smith raved about Pine to MTV and said that Star Trek made Chris Pine a movie star. "I'd watch that dude do anything," Smith said with a laugh. "I'd watch that dude have sex with my wife at this point. He's such a good actor."

25 Twitter Must Follows
I am new to Twitter. I admit it, I joined just to follow Christopher Walken! The LA Times has posted a list of 25 must follow people on Twitter. Kevin Smith is one, and you can follow the progress of Iron Man 2 by following Jon Favreau, who's been posting pics from the set.

Zach & Miri Make a Porno - Mini-review
I really liked Zach & Miri Make a Porno. It was really sweet. Yes, it was raunchy, had tons of crude potty humor and showed a full frontal Jason Mewes. It was a Kevin Smith film, after all! But all Kevin Smith films have a soft gooey marshmallow center and the budding romance that develops between Zach & Miri while they make a porno movie IS sweet and quite touching.
I'm not over Seth Rogen. I just find him hilarious and Elizabeth Banks is such a comic gem! Zach & Miri have known each other since high school and share an apartment, but they have never been romantic or had sex. They find themselves in dire financial straights so they come up with they idea of making a porno flick to make some money. If you don't want to see people having sex, don't watch this movie, in other words.
One of my favorite scenes is at Zach & Miri's high school reunion. Brandon Routh of Superman Returns is Miri's high school crush, and she finds out he brought his gay porno star boyfriend, played by Jason Long (Mac ads). Kevin Smith wrote one of the versions of the Superman script so it's quite ironic that he put "Superman" in a gay kissing scene! It was priceless all around.
I give Zach & Miri three and a half stars. It's not a film for everyone, but I found it both hilarious and romantic.

Zack and Miri Make a Porno -- Red Band Trailer
Not Safe for Work!!! For my friend Janene, who loves red band trailers (the trailer is rated R!). I wasn't that excited about this movie, even though I like Kevin Smith, but this trailer is hilarious! I do like Seth Rogen, too. Something about that Jew-fro!

Kevin Smith loves Star Trek -- shhhhh!
Kevin Smith talked about J. J. Abram's Star Trek in a recent radio interview:
Host: So thumbs up on The Watchmen, what else you got?Hat tip: Movie Geeks, We Are
Smith: I saw a movie last night that I cannot talk about.
Host: Was it good?
Smith: It was phenomenal.
Host: Any stars, any break out stars, and do they trek?
Smith: The stars absolutely trek in this film. It is fantastic. Anybody who was worried doesn’t need to be worried–about this film I cannot talk about…It was in very capable hands. The director did a phenomenal job–the director and his crew. Top notch cast and the guy that plays the lead is an instant star. That dude is going to be so famous. He is so wonderful. He picked up a role that I would say is pretty challenging for someone to step into the shoes of, because it is a role that has been played before many times by the same guy.

Kevin Smith Joygasmic about Watchmen
Kevin Smith saw Watchmen and posted about it on his blog:
I saw “Watchmen.” It’s fucking astounding. The Non-Disclosure Agreement I signed prevents me from saying much, but I can spout the following with complete joygasmic enthusiasm: Snyder and Co. have pulled it off.
Remember that feeling of watching “Sin City” on the big screen and being blown away by what a faithful translation of the source material it was, in terms of both content and visuals? Triple that, and you’ll come close to watching “Watchmen.” Even Alan Moore might be surprised at how close the movie is to the book. March can’t come soon enough.

Kevin Smith Raves about Dark Knight
Director Kevin Smith (Clerks) has seen an advance screening of Dark Knight and raves about it on his blog:
Without giving anything away, this is an epic film (and trust me: based on the sheer size and scope of the visuals and storytelling, that's not an overstatement). It's the "Godfather II" of comic book films and three times more earnest than "Batman Begins" (and fuck, was that an earnest film). Easily the most adult comic book film ever made. Heath Ledger didn't so much give a performance as he disappeared completely into the role; I know I'm not the first to suggest this, but he'll likely get at least an Oscar nod (if not the win) for Best Supporting Actor. Fucking flick's nearly three hours long and only leaves you wanting more (in a great way). I can't imagine anyone being disappointed by it. Nolan and crew have created something close to a masterpiece.
