Simon Pegg as Renesmee?

Simon Pegg is hilarious in the movies, and also very funny in his twitter posts! Here's what he tweeted this week:

  • Yes!!!! I've been accepted into Hogwarts to do a post grad in technical drawing. Second choice after Bristol Uni but hey, cute witches.
  • Oh great they don't allow dogs. It's either cats or toads. That's fucking disgraceful. I'm making a formal complaint to UCCA. Magic that!
  • They've made an acception because Minnie can speak German. Yay!!
  • They've revoked the offer due to my inability to distinguish between 'exception' and 'acception'. I'm doing a B-tech at Cheltenham Ladies.
  • Dear news vultures picking thru my banal tweets for scraps of relevance, I am NOT in Harry Potter but I am the new Q in James Bond. (FALSE).
  • And I'm playing Renesmee in Breaking Dawn. Using MoCap to turn me into a creepy, psychic baby. It's tough on Kristen, she has to carry me.
  • I actually got the part because I am an exact cross between Rpattz and Kstew. Who knew such beauty could in combination produce this face?
  • Me and Taylor had coffee last week. We had a couple of croissants then he imprinted. Haven't been able to get rid of him since. So method!

ROFLMAO!!!

Paul - Hello World! (From Simon and Nick)

Paul has begun production in New Mexico. Yay!! Check out the new website for the film, with set videos and pics from Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.

PAUL is a comedy about two sci-fi geeks who embark upon a pilgrimage in a RV to the center of America's UFO heartland: Nevada's infamous Area 51. While in the middle of that desert, the two friends encounter a fugitive alien by the name of Paul. Somewhat reluctantly, they embark upon an adventure that will change not just their lives forever, but also the lives of the friends and enemies they encounter along the way.

Daniel Craig the villain

Jamie Bell (all grown up!) from Billy Elliot will be Tintin and Daniel Craig will be his co-star as the dastardly pirate Red Rackham.
From the BBC:

British actor Daniel Craig, best known for playing secret agent James Bond, has signed up to play the villain in the new Tintin movie.

The 40-year-old has landed the role of Red Rackham opposite Billy Elliot star Jamie Bell, who will play the intrepid young reporter Tintin.

Filming for The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn, directed by Steven Spielberg, has already begun.

It is thought the Tintin movie, planned for released in 2011, will be the first of two or three movies.

Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson, who is co-producing the project with Spielberg, has been lined up to direct the sequel.

Confused by what Tintin is all about? Read this article on the European cult of Tintin.

Nick Frost and Simon Pegg in new comedy "Paul"

I had not heard about this movie before today, and the description alone has me howling. I adore Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, and their Hot Fuzz is one of my all-time favorites.

‘Paul’ is about two British geeks who make their way over to America to hit up the biggest geek fest of them all… Comic-Con. From There they decide to take a road trip to Area 51, where they have a close encounter with a small alien named Paul who asks the two geeks to help him find his way home.

Paul is being directed by Greg Motolla who directed Superbad, and the new Adventureland with Kristen Stewart which darn it all I could not get tickets to see at Sundance. The alien may be 75% CGI. I cannot wait for this one! It starts filming this spring, and will be out in 2010.

Basically, these two guys could read the phone book and I'd probably crack up laughing.

NOW I'm interested in TinTin

I'd heard rumblings about Steven Spielberg doing a Tin Tin movie, and just went why? Why should I care? Even Spielberg directing didn't excite me.

NOW, I care. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost of Hot Fuzz (one of my all time favorite movies) and Shaun of the Dead, have signed on to play the clumsy Thompson and Thompson detectives in TinTin.

Coming Soon says:

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (the Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz duo) have landed the roles of Thomson and Thompson in director Steven Spielberg and producer Peter Jackson’s Tintin.

The movie will be animated with motion-capture technology and star Andy Serkis as Tintin’s friend Captain Haddock. Thomas Sangster was previously set to play Tintin but had to drop out because of scheduling conflicts

Buckle Up...The Wait Is Over - Star Trek Trailer Is Here!!

I have been counting down the hours till I could watch this awesome new trailer for Star Trek in high quality again rather than the camcorder bootleg found on YouTube this weekend. Oh, happy day, it is Monday and it's here, the wait is over. It blew my socks off before Quantum this weekend.

Find it here in high quality, on Apple's Trailer site in Quicktime. Watch it in HD, it's worth it!

How do I love this new trailer? Let me count the ways. J. J. Abrams, you sly devil. The trailer starts out with a speeding 20th century convertible, in chase by with sirens blaring. The kid jumps out of the car at the last minute while the car careens over the cliff. Only then, when we switch to the view of the cop, who appears to be a robot with an air motorcycle, do we realize this is sci-fi. The kid says, "My name is James Tiberius Kirk!" and I whooped inside because now we know it's the Star Trek trailer. Only then do they play the Paramount and Bad Robot logos. One of the coolest openers to a trailer anywhere, and just brilliant.

So many cool flashes go by in quick succession. Simon Pegg as Scotty, "I like this ship. It's exciting!" LOL! Kirk arguing with Spock, "Why don't you make me!" The trailer ends with the very cool and evil looking Eric Bana saying "The wait is over." No, the wait ends in May when this movie finally comes out!

Yes, the movie could still suck, but I am hopeful. I am so hopeful, and whoever edited this trailer together is a genius. I've watched it half a dozen times already!

Update: Finally found the embed code on Awards Daily, and this hilarious comment.

350 years from now, no real progress beyond the Wonderbra. Or the male need to sneak a peek at one. Fascinating.

Fun interview with Thandie Newton

The Scotsman has a very fun interview with Thandie Newton who co-stars with Gerard Butler in the upcoming RocknRolla. She worked with Guy Ritchie on making her character tough in the movie:

USUALLY cast in sympathetic roles, Thandie Newton gets to show her wicked side in the upcoming RocknRolla. Guy Ritchie's return to the scene of the crime genre has plenty of stylised violence and machine-gun dialogue, and at its centre is Newton playing an egg so hardboiled that even 300's Gerard Butler cracks up in her presence.

"The character was written strong in the first half and then just dwindled away when it had gotten more serious so I basically said, 'Look, think of me as a guy.' From the middle of the movie to the end, I would change things and he was totally open to it, and that was so liberating, because it's his material. He just said, 'All right, this is your character. I may have written it one way, but I want you to do what you want."
My favorite part of the interview, though, was when she described playing a prank on Simon Pegg who she co-starred in Run, Fatboy Run:
"The annoying thing is that Simon would never react. Even when I'd sewn up the top of his T-shirt and knew he'd been struggling with it in his trailer like a tortoise trying to get its head out, he just wouldn't let on because he knew I was watching."

She finally got the response she was looking for by arriving at the film junket hours beforehand, emptying every one of the 12 bottles of water he had in his TV interview room, then refilling them with neat vodka: "On camera, he took a swig and – phwoooooh."
ROFLMAO!!

If I can't have Simon Pegg, I'm ecstatic for Michael Fassbender

Simon Pegg pulled out of Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Bastards, citing scheduling difficulties since Quentin wants to start filming this fall. I was very sad to hear that news, as Simon is one of my favorites. Hot Fuzz? Shaun of the Dead? He rules!

But this morning, I get this news which has me doing cartwheels. Variety Reports:

Teutonic thesp Michael Fassbender is in final negotiations to join the cast of Quentin Tarantino’s "Inglorious Bastards."

Simon Pegg had been in talks for the role (Lt. Archie Hicox), but was forced to ankle after what he described on his website as "insurmountable scheduling difficulties."

Brad Pitt has signed on for the lead role as a Tennessee hillbilly who assembles a team of eight Jewish-American soldiers to take on the Nazis. Also on board are Mike Myers and Eli Roth. Tarantino is courting Nastassja Kinski, David Krumholtz and B.J. Novak.

Role would arguably be the highest-profile yet for Fassbender, who has begun to draw comparisons to Daniel Day-Lewis for his intense dedication to his work. Thesp emaciated himself to play Sands in the latter stages of his hunger strike.

Fassbender is also attached to play the iconic role of Heathcliff in "Wuthering Heights."

Whoo Hoo!! This is fantastic news for Michael (and me)!

Mike Myers is also cast in Inglorious Bastards. Here's hoping he won't ruin it!

Brad Pitt to star in Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Bastards

Brad Pitt officially has gone inglorious. The actor has joined the cast of Quentin Tarantino's "Inglorious Bastards," signing on to play Lt. Aldo Raine, the head of the Jewish resistance in the writer/director's World War II film.
Additionally, British actor Simon Pegg ("Hot Fuzz") is in discussions to join the cast. Pitt's character is a Southern rebel who leads a band of eight Jewish American soldiers as they exact vengeance on Nazis in German-occupied France.

Quentin has been working on this script for YEARS. It will be fun to see Brad in a Quentin movie! Simon Pegg is one of my favorites, and he will be a riot in a Quentin film. Hot Fuzz is one of my favorite movies ever!
