Paging Dr. Scarpetta
Fox Studios have scored a coup. They got Patricia Cornwell to agree to film adaptations based on ALL 16 of her best-selling Dr. Kay Scarpetta novels. They key was a personal visit by Angelina Jolie herself to the author.
Cornwell changed her mind about a film franchise after meeting with Jolie and producer Geyer Kosinki to discuss the project, according to the report. She is said to be playing a key role in the development of the first film.Demi Moore was set to star in a film adaptation in the 90's that went nowhere.
The report says the film series will be modelled after the Jason Bourne films, starring Matt Damon. Plots from many Bourne stories, originally written by Robert Ludlum, were merged into the first three films.
I think this is a great matchup. Scarpetta is a coroner and medical examiner who I can definitely see Jolie playing, and thrillers like this are great vehicles for her.

This is what I call beautiful
A mother breastfeeding her child.
On baring her body for the intimate W pics taken by Brad just weeks after the twins' birth: "I'm with a man who's evolved enough to look at my body and see it as more beautiful, because of the journey it has taken and what it has created. He genuinely sees it that way. So I genuinely feel even sexier."
Brad Pitt's photos of Angelina Jolie with the twins are in the latest edition of W Magazine. Read more at Huffington Post.

Celebrity Legos
No, they won't be available in stores, but Lego has created some celebrity Lego people to mark the 30th anniversary of the creation of Lego figurines.
Those chosen to be immortalised in building bricks include The Beckhams (complete with Posh’s trademark over-sized sunnies and David’s stubble), a tattoo-covered Amy Winehouse and a hilarious panel of po-faced X Factor judges, Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole, Louis Walsh and Dannii Minogue.See the rest here!
Hotties Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie also got the treatment – each clutching a newborn twin.

Anglina Jolie replaces Tom Cruise
Edwin A. Salt just had a gender change. The thriller had been rumored to be a starring vehicle for Tom Cruise, reports Variety:
Jolie is close to a deal to play the title character, a CIA officer who's accused by a defector of being a Russian sleeper spy and must elude capture long enough to establish her innocence.
"Edwin A. Salt" will undergo a title change, and if everything falls into place, the film shapes up as a return vehicle for Jolie, who recently gave birth to twins. Another candidate for her return is the Lionsgate drama "Atlas Shrugged," which has been adapted by Randall Wallace from the Ayn Rand novel.
Angelina's boffo box office in Wanted is making her THE female action star. Tom Cruise meanwhile is close to signing on to a comedy where he plays a famous chef forced to work in a school cafeteria. How the mighty have fallen. He's supposed to be a laugh riot in Tropic Thunder. If you can't stop 'em laughing at you, then laugh with them, I suppose.

Wanted - mini-review
It killed me to wait, but we were at a family reunion all weekend, and I couldn't see Wanted until Monday afternoon. So, you're wondering, was it worth the wait and the hype? Hell, yeah!
This movie is a non-stop adrenaline rush. I got a kick out of the fact it was set in Chicago, but commuters can only dream that L trains go that fast!
Angelina Jolie is just so at home in her own skin in action roles like this. Morgan Freeman, excellent as usual. But, James, oh my, James McAvoy. His performance is simply brilliant. I can't imagine anyone better in this role. He starts out the movie as this nervous nebbishy cubicle slave, and ends the movie as a total badass. He makes the transformation completely believable. I feel like he poured everything he's been in other movies into this role, at times nervous and twitchy, sometimes showing anguish and emotional pain full out there, and then his intensity which has been seen sometimes in other films is given full throttle. Just brilliant. (James has even said that he made himself pass out by unknowingly holding his breath during intense scenes.)
What I am also excited about with this movie is the director, Timur Bekmambetov, a Russian-Khazak. People have been talking about two Russian films he's made: Night Watch and Day Watch that are supposed to be out of this world. The action sequences and the colliding bullets in Wanted reminded me of my open-mouthed amazement watching the first Matrix film. You're seeing things and techniques that are new and fresh.
Timur Bekmambetov told an interviewer that his influences aren't from living in Russia, but in the USSR:
I cannot wait to see what this guy comes up with next. He is definitely a creative force to watch."(The Soviet Union) was a fantasy world created by one man, and his name was Stalin, and he created and controlled everything," Timur said. "How to dress, how to drink, how to talk, how to think. He was the producer."
Timur continued, "We lived for seventy years in a fantasy movie created by one person. It gave us a sensibility and the ability to believe different things. That influences your way of thinking."
Three and a half stars. See it on the big screen. It is totally kickass. With the successful opening weekend that Wanted has had, there is already talk of a sequel. Given the ending, that will be interesting. Only if you've seen the film, read this interesting article on how the ending was reshot. Major spoiler alert!

Wanted has boffo box office weekend
Wanted did huge business at the box office in America.
The movie made $51.1 million and
- Wanted was the biggest opening of a live action film in Jolie's career
- It turned out to be the best June opening ever for an R-rated movie, beating Knocked Up's $30.6M, and the 6th highest R-rated opening of all time
- The studio expected only a $35+M opening, so the film did much better than anticipated
- Angie proved she is a big draw: Cinemascore said the main reasons given for choosing to see Wanted were the action (67%) and Jolie (61%).
I haven't seen it yet as I was at a family reunion this weekend. Tomorrow I have a date with James!!

Kung Fu Panda - mini-review
Jack Black is a cartoon character come to life, and so voicing an animated character is the perfect role for him. I've loved Jack Black and his zaniness since High Fidelity. He was a blast in School of Rock and I even loved his gentle crazy romantic in The Holiday with Kate Winslett, but he was miscast in King Kong. Did anyone really believe all those men would follow Jack Black to the ends of the earth?
The voice casting for Kung Fu Panda is dead on. Angelina Jolie smolders as the all so serious tiger who loses out to Jack Black's pudgy panda as Dragon Warrior. Dustin Hoffman is maybe a little lemur, and is Po's exasperated kung fu master, who discovers the best way to train Po is by using food as a reward. The fight over the last steamed dumpling was amazing! Ian McShane of Deadwood plays the best evil rumbling voiced big cat since the tiger in Jungle Book! Seth Rogan of Knocked Up was a surprising voice choice as Mantis, David Cross of Arrested Development plays Crane with Jackie Chan also doing a short voice cameo as Monkey.
So, did I enjoy the movie? We saw it on IMAX and to quote Jack Black, I was blinded by its awesomeness. I loved it! Po's dream sequences are even gorgeous graphic novel like 2-D paintings. It's inventive, it looks great and we howled with laughter. The whole family loved it, and I consider this a new classic animated film. Three and a half stars edging to almost four. This is not just for kids, but I liked that it wasn't full of the "of the moment" adult aimed jokes as the Shrek movies have had.

Jack Black lets it slip -- it's twins for Angelina
CANNES, France --
It’s twins for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt!
In an interview that took place in Cannes on Wednesday with the “Today” show’s Natalie Morales, airing Wednesday night on Access Hollywood and in full on Thursday on “Today,” Angelina confirmed the baby news that has been rumored for months.
The twins will be the couple’s 5th & 6th children.
Angelina confirmed the news in a side-by-side interview with Jack Black — they are promoting their new Dreamworks animated film, “Kung Fu Panda.”
Jack was the first to let the news slip, and then Angelina followed up with her own confirmation.
“You’re gonna have as many as (the) ‘Brady Bunch’ when you have these,” Jack joked.
“It’s confirmed? Is it two?”, Natalie asked.
“Yeah, yeah, we’ve confirmed that already,” Angelina responded. “Well, Jack’s just confirmed it actually.”
“Is that true?”, Jack said jokingly.
“Yeah, you did,” Angelina replied.
“Sorry,” Jack concluded.
“So you’re having twins?”, Natalie asked, as Angelina nodded with a ‘yes.’
“Do you know the sexes of the babies”, Natalie asked. “Or, are you keeping that private?”
“We would like to keep that private,” Angelina said.
Also, Variety posted this bizarre video of Jack Black taking on 40 pandas at Cannes. Isn't this just what you always thought glamorous Cannes was like? LOL Check 9 minutes in.
Jack Black stormed the beach, ushered by 40 overheated performers in fat panda suits, to push Dreamworks' "Kung Fu Panda."
As the horde of press screamed "Jack! Jack!" he posed and fought every one within sight. We hoped his wobbling roundhouse kick would take out a camera crew or two, but alas he couldn't connect.

Sex with Angelina Jolie was a Nightmare
You've got to love the Scottish Press - they are one for the catchy headline! The Glasgow Daily Record has a nice interview with Glaswegian James McAvoy, with this lovely headline:
Sex with Angeline Jolie was a nightmare, reveals James McAvoy
SCOTS actor James McAvoy has admitted he was terrified filming sex scenes with Angelina Jolie for his latest movie.
One of Hollywood's hottest young stars, he lines up opposite Angelina in Wanted, a film based on Mark Miller's explosive novels.
He plays 25-year-old account worker Wesley Gibson, who is transformed from a loser, cheated on by his girlfriend and bullied by his boss, into a dark superhero.
But despite having starred opposite Keira Knightley in Atonement and now Angelina, James says he doesn't enjoy the sex scenes, however convincing they may seem on the big screen.
He said: "It's sweaty and uncomfortable.
"My paranoia is the girl I'm doing the sex scene with will think I'm getting off on her.
"I have nightmares about that the night before a sex scene. There's no chance of getting any kind of stimulus because you're so nervous and there's all these people watching you.
"It's daunting. They're considered to be the most beautiful people in the world, and I'm clearly not. I don't think I've been hit by the ugly stick, but I'm not exactly a matinee idol."
No, James, I can think of a few people who would say you haven't been hit with the ugly stick!"Angelina and I share one epic snog, which was kind of weird. Her life is mad with all the attention she gets, but she still retains a really approachable air. She's lovely, actually. We had a good laugh on a fairly demanding shoot, because it was so physical."Regarded as Hollywood's new It boy, and having celebrated his 29th birthday earlier this week, his film star status has taken him a long way from Glasgow's Drumchapel housing estate, where he was brought up.
Famously, it was only after actor-director David Hayman addressed James's school and the 16-year-old offered to make tea on his next film that he got his first break. Four months later, Hayman rang to ask him to audition for a part in 1997's The Near Room.
