Shia LeBeouf Confesses his Crush on Diane Sawyer
(Shia shows Diane Sawyer his wrist tattoos in an interview in May.)
There's hope for us cougars. LOL! During Shia's appearance on the Tonight Show to promote Eagle Eye, he confessed his crush on Diane Sawyer, who he hit it off with in his GMA appearance back in May:
"She just does it for me."
"I don't want to do dirty stuff, I don't think. Just, like, go to a park... have her read to me, cut up some fruits, talk about the economy."Seems a 40 year age difference doesn't bother him!

Shia bloodied up for Transformers 2
Michael Bay is incorporating Shia LeBeouf's hand injury from his car accident into the plot of Transformers 2. Shia has resumed filming, and this shot from Just Jared shows him blasted and bloodied on the set. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is due out next year on June 26th.

Shia's hand surgery delays Transformers 2 filming
Shia LeBeouf flipped his car during his DUI car accident this weekend. Fortunately his passenger and the other driver escaped serious injury, but Shia had hand surgery that will sideline him from filming Transformers 2 for the next month. Nice one, Shia. Way to blow it.

Grow up, Shia and stop being an Idiot!
Shia Labeouf has reportedly been arrested in Hollywood for DUI after he was involved in a car accident in the early morning hours.
Last year he was arrested for trespassing after refusing to leave a Chicago, Illinois Walgreens at 4am (lovely mug shot above) and then in February, he was charged with smoking in a prohibited area in California - to which he pleaded guilty and was forced to pay a $500 fine.
His latest legal woe comes just three months after he vowed never to get arrested again - because he didn't want to hamper his promising film career.
In May, he said, "There's nothing cool about getting arrested for stupid stuff at my age. But it keeps happening to me. I could pretend that I find it all highly amusing, but I'd be lying.
"It's deeply embarrassing. I decided a long time ago to stop doing stupid things, so clearly I've still got some work to do on myself. I'm not anonymous any more.
"Now, I light up a cigarette in the wrong place and overnight I'm the Al Capone of misdemeanours. What I've got in terms of acting is too important for me to jeopardise."
Get a grip, Shia! Drinking and driving do not mix.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - My Review
Indiana Jones & The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull almost broke the alltime holdiay weekend gross record. It came in second to Pirates of the Carribean 3. Indy 4 played to sold out shows all weekend as parents took their children in droves. And we were there, taking our three kids yesterday. My youngest had a bad fever Saturday so we couldn't see the film till Monday, and it was killing me to wait!
So, was it worth the wait? The 19 years we waited? Unreservedly, YES! Our family has been watching the old movies to get our kids ready for Indy 4. We saw the first film a week ago, and nothing can match the first one. The introduction to Indy, the boulder, Marion -- it can't be topped. But we also saw the second film Sunday night, Temple of Doom. Kate Capshaw is like nails on a chalkboard and my son was yelling at the TV -- I can't STAND her! Yes, Spielberg got a wife out of that film, but she is definitely not my favorite either. So with all that fresh in our minds, I can view Indy 4 not just through the mists of my memories and nostalgia. Indy 4 could never be the equal of the first film, but it can stand at least as high as the second if not higher. Yeah, the plot doesn't make sense -- but they never did!
I loved Indy 4 and everything about it. There were things about this film that most of the audience may not have been chuckling about the way I was. Starting the film with a drag race -- that was pure George Lucas, and echoed our very first image of Harrison Ford as he was in the drag race in American Graffiti! Shia LeBeouf rides on screen on his motorcycle with the leather jacket and even the very hat that Marlon Brando wore in The Wild Ones. I actually burst out a "HA!" right when I saw him (I was the only one!), laughing at how perfect the homage was.
I loved the emotional payoff of this movie -- How Indy finds his son, and just all the great banter in the movie with Marion. As the Tribune reviewer said, the goofy look on Indy's face when he first sees Marion again is worth the price of admission. Shia did great, and I love how Spielberg and Lucas gave him his own thing -- he's dropped out of tons of boarding schools but he knows how to handle a knife and fence! The car chase sequence is sheer cinematic brilliance, and will be studied by film students for years to come. All the supporting players were great -- Cate Blanchett was a standout as the Russian villain. Just pitch perfect.
So, three and a half stars (out of 4) and a MUST see in the theaters. If you haven't seen it yet, what's wrong with you? Are you American or what?! Those FBI agents from the film may need to speak with you!

Eagle Eye Teaser Trailer -- next film for Shia
Ain't It Cool pointed me to this new teaser trailer for Eagle Eye, Shia's next film with Billy Bob Thornton.
Watch the Eagle Eye trailer here!
So here's the Teaser Trailer from DJ Caruso - who has reunited with Shia from DISTURBIA to give us EAGLE EYE. I heard yesterday that Billy Bob loved working on this film and thinks it is going to be something really special. That said - the teaser does a very good job of setting up a scenario that... well teases. And damn, ain't that Shia cute?
Yes, Harry, he is! The film looks very interesting, and I loved Disturbia so I'm hopeful this one will be good.

Shia in Indy 5?!
George Lucas revealed that there's a VERY good chance that Indy 5 will happen.
Lucas says that he and director Steven Spielberg have left the door open for a sequel to Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which is expected to open to huge numbers next week.
Lucas goes on to say, "I haven’t even told Steven or Harrison (Ford) this…But I have an idea to make Shia (LeBeouf) the lead character next time and have Harrison come back like Sean Connery did in the last movie. I can see it working out."
Whoo Hoo! I'm liking this idea!

Shia on GQ Cover
Looking good!
Just Jared reports on some of the interview highlights:
On working on the new Indiana Jones film: “I never worked so hard for anything in my life. I did four months of sword fighting and bike training. And I spent insane amounts of time on the switchblade.”
On the rumors that he dated Rihanna: “My friends were like, ‘Are you serious, bro? Why didn’t you tell me about that?’ I was like, ‘I really don’t know her like that.’ For weeks they were singing that ‘Umbrella’ song everywhere I walked. And those are my people!”
On being head-over-heels with all of his female costars: : “I’ve been in love with every woman I’ve ever worked with (Megan Fox, Sarah Roemer and Michelle Monaghan). [But] there’s the three-month attention span that actors have. I don’t know if it’s mutual, but I really don’t care. They have to kiss me when ‘action’ gets called, anyway, so I’ll get what I want.”
Shia on Letterman last night, hilariously describing his adventures in the Chicago Walgreens:
I laughed so hard I was crying!

Shia Who?
Who is Shia LaBeouf (and why should you care)? He's Hollywood's New It kid, and he'll be in Indy 4 with Harrison Ford on May 22. To me, I could see Shia LeBeouf becoming the next Tom Hanks or John Cusack. It's not that he's that gorgeous, although he is filling out, but it's the charm and the fast talking that I like. He's just damn talented, and I can see him really going places.
He starred in Even Stevens as a child on Disney Channel, and won an Emmy for it. But I first saw him in Holes. My son loved the book so I was dragged to the movie which was a much better than average kids film. I could tell even then in his first feature film, that he had acting chops and that snarky John Cusack type attitude. He had minor roles in I, Robot and Constantine, but his breakthrough role was in Disturbia. The film is sort of teen Rear Window, and he spends a lot of the movie alone on screen -- and he carries the movie.
From the Variety cover article about Shia last year:
Ever since Disturbia paid for itself with a $22 million opening weekend, there’s been talk that Shia LaBeouf might just be the next big thing. (The name’s pronounced shy-a La-buff.) His charisma helped the movie survive the inevitable Hitchcock comparisons, which is how director D. J. Caruso planned it: “I basically said, ‘I want John Cusack. Girls will like him because he’s smart and witty and gets cuter the more you watch him, and also guys like him because he’s cool and he can be dangerous.’ Shia was perfect.”Watch Shia on Letterman last year right before Transformers came out, and you'll get a taste of what he's like. Transformers was only watchable because of Shia, to me. My husband teases me because I like him. Yes, he is young, but he's legal as he's now 21! (I am going to hell ...) He's just charming and funny. Can't wait to see how his career plays out.Caruso sent LaBeouf’s audition tape to his friend Steven Spielberg, one of the film’s executive producers. “Steven loved it,” Caruso says, enough so that he had LaBeouf read for another DreamWorks picture: Transformers, the $145 million summer blockbuster from director Michael Bay. Again, he nailed the leading role—this time as Sam Witwicky, who teams up with an 18-wheeler named Optimus Prime to save the earth from invading Decepticons. “The girls in my office were like, ‘He’s not that cute. Don’t hire him,’ ” says Bay. “They just wanted a hunk in the movie. And I said, ‘Ladies, watch the audition tape.’ They saw the tape and instantly went, ‘Oh my God, he’s great. He’s so funny.’ And that’s what it is. It’s just charm.” If Transformers, which opens this month, performs as expected, it will be LaBeouf’s second No. 1 movie this year.
After Disturbia and Transformers, Spielberg was ready to add LaBeouf to his all-star team. Based on an idea by George Lucas and starring Harrison Ford, the Indiana Jones trilogy—beginning with 1981’s Raiders of the Lost Ark and ending, or so it seemed, with 1989’s Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade—is one of Spielberg’s signature creations, on a par with Jaws and E.T. Last winter, he finalized his plan for a new sequel, featuring LaBeouf. “I think what Steven really likes about Shia is his endearing quality,” Caruso says. “He calls it a Tom Hanks quality, where he’s this great actor and you want to root for him.”
LaBeouf shrugs this off, saying he gets compared to “any dark-haired actor who wasn’t an Adonis, basically: Tom Hanks, John Cusack, Dustin Hoffman. It has nothing to do with performance; it’s just a visual categorization.” But Jon Voight, who has acted with LaBeouf in the 2003 Disney hit Holes and in Transformers, thinks the analogy fits: “There’s never another one of these unique guys, but he’s a unique guy that is going to have a long career. Why do people say Tom Hanks? Because Tom is not a standard leading man, or doesn’t seem to be. He has great charm, great humor, and he’s a real actor. And all those things would describe Shia as well.”
O.K., but there are thousands of talented actors in L.A., many of them a lot handsomer than LaBeouf. Why has DreamWorks made him, as Caruso puts it, “their Mickey Mouse”? The answer may lie in his unique upbringing. “His dad basically was a grifter,” Caruso says. “His mom is this really cool hippie. This is a guy who from a very young age was basically the father figure in his own life and took care of his mother. He was an old soul at age 19.”

You only like skinny guys . . .
Went out with friends to see Persepolis tonight. I'll review that tomorrow, but a comment Janene made tonight demands some immediate attention. Due to my recent posting of pics of Shia LaBeouf and many of James McAvoy, Janene thinks I ONLY like skinny guys. Mainly, it's the accent, not how slender, that is key. But in Shia's case, he's kind of the up and coming John Cusack. More on Shia to come in another post, as Janene's education on Shia is sorely lacking.
Hugh Jackman has to be a non-skinny case in point. Saw him live on Broadway doing Boy From Oz, and he was slender for that, I do admit. He literally danced his ass off in that play! He's bulked up for the filming of Wolverine now, but I cannot WAIT to see him in Baz Luhrman's Australia due out Nov. 14. This will be Baz's first film since 2001's Moulin Rouge. Check out these promo stills above by clicking on them to see them full size. Yum! And he will have his native Aussie accent in this one! I was a goner for Hugh when I saw Kate & Leopold.
And then there's Gerard Butler. Janene, have you SEEN 300 yet? If not, I may have to force a copy into your hands.
Not just Gerry, but Michael Fassbender in that one. I think we need a little Raining Men to round out this post! 300 is a chick flick because the movie is just RAINING barely-clothed six pack NON-skinny men!
Thank you Perez
Perez says, "You're welcome!" for this pic of Shia LaBeouf.
"It looks like he's also discovered manscaping and waxing!"
Uhhhh.......yeah. 24 days till Indy 4.
