Seth Rogen 1996 Stand Up Comedy

He's only 13!!! (And very adorable!)

He said he wrote Superbad when he was 13, and now, I believe him.

Read to me, Paul Rudd

The thumbnail picture is funky, but the video plays fine.

ABC News did a segment on the 60th anniversary of Harlequin books, having Paul Rudd, George Will(!!), Wolfgang Puck and Seth Rogen, among others, read from steamy bodice rippers. That's one business that's doing better in the recession. Yes, I'll escape to another world for $8, thank you!

April Vanity Fair cover remind you of anything?

Annie Liebovitz spoofs her own work! April's Vanity Fair has Paul Rudd, Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill and Jason Segal in the same poses as Tom Ford, Scarlet Johannsson and Keira Knightley from 2006. I love it!

Funny People Trailer

I had heard that Funny People, Judd Appatow's next film, would be about stand up comics. This is not the story I was expecting, but I'm intrigued. Love the part mocking Eric Bana's accent! Due out July 31.

Hurray for Chest Hair

Jessi Klein has written a hilarious article on The Daily Beast about the return of chest hair:

After many years of drought, during which the only reliable source of manly tuft seemed to be the Baldwin brothers, chest hair has returned with a vengeance as the sign of sex appeal and virility. Mad Men star Jon Hamm (aka Don Draper) is entertainment’s tall drink of testosterone du jour.

Even the Tiger Beat crowd is sporting post-pubescent chest curls these days. Robert Pattison, the delicately anemic looking young star of Twilight, has unbuttoned just enough on the red carpet to reveal a healthy crop of pectoral fuzz. And Gossip Girl fave Ed Westwick, while barely of legal drinking age, has the dark downy appearance of someone who has spent all day frolicking with a black Pug.

Then there are the ubiquitous everyman hunks of the Judd Apatow empire, the thinking woman’s boyfriends: Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, and Seth Rogen. All three are endowed with chest hair that could best be described as “enough for a handful” (employing the phrase I’ve heard men use to evoke the ideal-sized breast.) And while they all play man-children with immature tendencies, their resolute hairiness is a reminder of their ultimately full-grown hearts.

Frolicking with a black Pug! *snort* Read the rest here. Being married to a hairy man myself, I have to admit that I also agree that an obviously waxed chest (Daniel Craig are you listening?) is a bit off-putting. I find Seth Rogen's teddy bear "enough for a handful" qualities, well, sexy!

Zach & Miri Make a Porno - Mini-review

I really liked Zach & Miri Make a Porno. It was really sweet. Yes, it was raunchy, had tons of crude potty humor and showed a full frontal Jason Mewes. It was a Kevin Smith film, after all! But all Kevin Smith films have a soft gooey marshmallow center and the budding romance that develops between Zach & Miri while they make a porno movie IS sweet and quite touching.

I'm not over Seth Rogen. I just find him hilarious and Elizabeth Banks is such a comic gem! Zach & Miri have known each other since high school and share an apartment, but they have never been romantic or had sex. They find themselves in dire financial straights so they come up with they idea of making a porno flick to make some money. If you don't want to see people having sex, don't watch this movie, in other words.

One of my favorite scenes is at Zach & Miri's high school reunion. Brandon Routh of Superman Returns is Miri's high school crush, and she finds out he brought his gay porno star boyfriend, played by Jason Long (Mac ads). Kevin Smith wrote one of the versions of the Superman script so it's quite ironic that he put "Superman" in a gay kissing scene! It was priceless all around.

I give Zach & Miri three and a half stars. It's not a film for everyone, but I found it both hilarious and romantic.

Zack and Miri Make a Porno -- Red Band Trailer

Not Safe for Work!!! For my friend Janene, who loves red band trailers (the trailer is rated R!). I wasn't that excited about this movie, even though I like Kevin Smith, but this trailer is hilarious! I do like Seth Rogen, too. Something about that Jew-fro!

Kung Fu Panda - mini-review

Jack Black is a cartoon character come to life, and so voicing an animated character is the perfect role for him. I've loved Jack Black and his zaniness since High Fidelity. He was a blast in School of Rock and I even loved his gentle crazy romantic in The Holiday with Kate Winslett, but he was miscast in King Kong. Did anyone really believe all those men would follow Jack Black to the ends of the earth?

The voice casting for Kung Fu Panda is dead on. Angelina Jolie smolders as the all so serious tiger who loses out to Jack Black's pudgy panda as Dragon Warrior. Dustin Hoffman is maybe a little lemur, and is Po's exasperated kung fu master, who discovers the best way to train Po is by using food as a reward. The fight over the last steamed dumpling was amazing! Ian McShane of Deadwood plays the best evil rumbling voiced big cat since the tiger in Jungle Book! Seth Rogan of Knocked Up was a surprising voice choice as Mantis, David Cross of Arrested Development plays Crane with Jackie Chan also doing a short voice cameo as Monkey.

So, did I enjoy the movie? We saw it on IMAX and to quote Jack Black, I was blinded by its awesomeness. I loved it! Po's dream sequences are even gorgeous graphic novel like 2-D paintings. It's inventive, it looks great and we howled with laughter. The whole family loved it, and I consider this a new classic animated film. Three and a half stars edging to almost four. This is not just for kids, but I liked that it wasn't full of the "of the moment" adult aimed jokes as the Shrek movies have had.

Seth Rogen as Green Hornet?!

EW.com reports:

Sony is moving forward with what may be the most unlikely superhero film yet: The Green Hornet starring Seth Rogen. The Knocked Up star will play Britt Reid, a bored playboy who inherits his father's crusading newspaper and spends his nights fighting crime with his sidekick, Kato. Additionally, Rogen is currently penning the film's script with his writing partner, Evan Goldberg (Superbad); Sony has yet to hire a director for the project. Hornet is due in theaters on June 25, 2010.
