Bing and Bowie - "Little Drummer Boy"

I've got this song on my iPod, but it's a kick to see this and all the banter before. What a trip. One of the strangest pairings ever.

  1. This is one of my FAVORITE songs of the Christmas season (you know, one of those which makes the holiday's feel "complete" - onc eyou check it off the list of Heard & Enjoyed). And, in all this time I never realized that they actually had recorded this song together while Bing was still alive! I chalked it up to one of those posthumous pairing ala Natlie & Nat King cole...or Cindi Lauper & Frank Sinatra. But, now, thanks to you posting this video link, Mel - I see that it was probably taken from one of Bing's famous Christmas Specials he held every year. Seeing David Bowie actually sing those gorgeous power notes of the counter-melody with Crosby backing him up on the standard - is truly mesmerizing!
Thanks for including this little holiday gem on your Blog, Mel..it was an unexpected and thoroughly enjoyed gift!
    Luv, Leigh
