The Doctor is Hamlet tonight!

Not only do we get David Tennant (Doctor Who) as Hamlet, but Patrick Stewart plays Claudius in Hamlet from the BBC.  They adapted it for TV from the modern dress Royal Shakespeare Company production.  It appears on PBS' Great Performances tonight.  Here's a taste:

The Special Relationship!

Michael Sheen had twittered that he was playing Tony Blair again, and it's finally almost here! The Special Relationship, which is a BBC/HBO movie about Blair and Clinton airs first in Britain on May 7th.  We get it on HBO May 29th, coincidentally the day before the Emmy deadline.

I think this is the third time screenwriter Peter Morgan has written Michael Sheen a Tony Blair part. Dennis Quaid plays Clinton, and Hope Davis Hilary. I am thrilled that Helen McRory reprises her great Cherie Blair.  More pics here.

To say that I'm looking forward to seeing Sheen in this would be the understatement of the year.  Love him in anything, but especially as Blair!

Werner Herzog Reads Where's Waldo

Someone reads the children's book, "Where's Waldo" in the persona of German director (Red Dawn, Bad Lieutenant) Werner Herzog:

"A man unstuck from place and time, he travels alone on foot."

Brilliant!

How You Know You Have Become Radioactive

Ouch.  Lindsay Lohan has hit a new low.  She has been completely cropped out of the photo on the Nintendo DS Mean Girls game cover.  Her character from the movie is the main focus of the game, but maybe her image is a bit too radioactive for a game for young girls?  As Cinematical put it:
Could this be because...young girls generally have to get $20 items pre-approved by their parents? And that parents (even fathers) are justifiably hesitant to buy their children ANYthing with the name or face of Lindsay Lohan on it? Could that be why? Or could it be as simple as "We'd have to pay her to re-use the likeness, and we don't feel like it."
Linsday is currently working on Machete with Robert Rodriguez, and Quentin Tarantino is even talking about resurrecting her career in something "hardcore".  She's got nowhere to go put up at this point.

We've Got Company

Yeah, it's in just about every movie....

Jake Gyllenhaal on GQ cover

GQ's cover article is "Are you ready for Jake Gyllenhaal the action hero?"  They have a very cute slide show of pics taken of Jake out and about in NYC.

Yeah, I'm ready for Prince of Persia.  Bring on the summer fun flicks!

Instructions - an animated poem by Neil Gaiman

Neil Gaiman posted this delightful video of his poem, Instructions, on his blog. My son and I were lucky enough to hear him read this at his appearance at Naperville Reads! He told us then that the illustrated book was forthcoming.

This is an animation of Charles Vess's art, turning Pencils into Paintings, with me saying the poem over it, to promote the book of INSTRUCTIONS we've done. And it is so beautiful. I am really proud of the job that the Harper's team did on this. I want to make everyone watch it.
